If your approach to headstand has included any of the following, you're in the right place:
❌ Take arm measurements by holding opposite elbows
❌ Using a wall for support
❌ Dolphin pose as a warm-up to build strength
❌ Learning tripod headstand before forearm headstand
❌ Walking your feet in before lifting up
❌ Clasp your hands & press into your head
❌ Placing little to no weight on your head
These instructions are still commonly taught in many Yoga teacher trainings. If you’ve been taught any of these methods, it’s not your fault! If you teach them, you likely learned this way too.
Why These Methods Don’t Work (and What You’re Missing)
The reality is that many of the most widely taught headstand methods are outdated, inadequate, ineffective, or even counterproductive. If you've been following these techniques, you're probably frustrated—wondering why headstand still feels difficult, uncomfortable, or just impossible.
In this free training, I’m going to reveal why these common instructions don’t make sense and how they’re limiting your practice. I won’t be teaching you how to headstand today, but you’ll walk away with a much clearer understanding of what you’re doing wrong, why the typical methods aren’t getting you where you want to be and the required formula for being in the Happy Headstand zone.
Why Your Current Approach Is Holding You Back
Have you ever been in a Yoga class where the teacher says, “Okay, those who can headstand, go ahead,” or “Do this, this, and this and lift up”? Maybe you’ve been told to use a wall, or that dolphin pose will build the exact strength you need.
Here’s the problem: That’s not how headstands work. These “quick fixes” may sound simple, but without the right foundation and understanding of the mechanics, they often lead to frustration, discomfort, or worse—injury.
Most classes don’t give you the time, depth or the specific guidance you need to truly understand the pose. And as a result, many practitioners struggle for months or even years, thinking they just need more strength or flexibility - or just increase practice time.
But the truth is—it’s not about working harder; it’s about working smarter.
“Rory is an incredible teacher. I learnt so much (in the headstand course) which I’ve been able to include in my every day practice. I can’t wait to come back & learn some more!”
