Lightness is a state of mind

Lightness (and heaviness) is experienced through the multiple layers of your being.

Think how you describe someone / yourself.

‘a weight has lifted off my shoulders’
'they’re carrying a heavy burden'

’I have heavy thoughts’
’my spirit is lifted’
’a light meal’

In its gross state, the physical body is heavy, dull, dead.
What makes it alive, radiant, mobile and light is what runs through it.

Energy - the life force.

You reference the body through its subtle expression, its energetic state.

’They’re carrying the weight of the world’

When there's a shift in your emotional state from a contracted, stressed and fearful state to one that is joyous, excited, in love, your experience levitates from heaviness to lightness.

Emotions, Thoughts & Feelings have weight, these effect your energy & state.

Through the lens of Yoga, your body is constructed of interwoven layers. The Koshas.

The energy body is the Pranamaya Kosha.

Practices that enable you to work more intimately with your ‘life-force’ give you greater capacity to change your state and experience a lightness of being.

There is a term in Yogic texts called Angha Laghavam, the lightening of the body.

In the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, this is touched upon in the context of levitation and special powers.

According to such texts, your energy body (pranamaya Kosha) is made up of different prana’s - vayu's

These ‘energies’ have different behaviours, influence and roles in your energetic constitution.

Udhana Vayu has an upward direction, a flow to your higher states of consciousness.
This ascending energy creates a lightness.

Mapped onto your subtle anatomy, Udhana Vayu manifests in your throat centre, Vishuddha Chakra.

In your asana practice, a jump in quality happens when you shift from ‘doing’ the posture from the physical body and instead initiate movement from the energy body.

When you enlist the energy body to initiate movement (you mobilise it through total attention and intent), the physical body gets pulled along.

YOU experience a lightening of the body.

At this summer weekend immersion you’ll explore and 'find lightness’ through a range of yogic and embodiment practices: asana, pranayama, sound, meditation.

When you levitate your energy, emotion and mind your physical body will fly.

This exploration is close to our hearts, we cannot wait to share with you.
