Navigating the path of practice: journey to the inner limbs

With Rory Viggers

4th - 6th February 2022
a live online immersion

A thought-provoking focus into the rich tapestry of yoga by layering, weaving and integrating scriptural insights into practical application through asana and pranayama to 'navigate the path of practice’.

Whether you are newer to practice or are a seasoned practitioner, you inevitably experience points in your life where something happens that destabilises your practice.

Even if you are the most committed practitioner of meditation, asana and pranayama, you will encounter obstacles in your practice. Be it illness, injury, life events or loss of passion - momentum, concentration and steadiness can be lost.

Knowing that this happens and knowing what to do about it will rekindle the flame of practice and galvanise your inner forcefield to hold you more steadfast when obstacles reappear (and they always will).

The Patanjali Yoga Sutras sight obstacles and interventions that appear on your path of practice. To prevent you backsliding or falling off your path, you are advised to intensify your practice. If your practice is Asana & Pranayama you don't just increase your time on this. Instead the Patanjali Yoga Sutras suggest you must introduce practices from the inner limbs of the Ashtanga 8 fold path; you move from the gross to the subtle.

Skilful application of yoga practices can offer a buoyancy aid in stormy weather. With strong roots you can grow tall. With deep roots you can stay steady. With fire in your belly you can keep going. And with an open heart, the magic spark keeps you going to find a way through even the biggest boulders that can appear on the road.

During the weekend you will explore these concepts through experiential practice.

If you really want to evolve your practice from a path of discipline to a path of Sadhana and the positive impact this has on your life, the direction has to be one of inner enquiry and communion.

I look forward to sharing and diving deep below the surface.

Rory Viggers

Rory's unique teaching style skilfully enables you to uncover a greater depth of awareness and understanding in your practice. Informed by multi-disciplines his approach is intelligent, passionate and insightful. I am a direct student of one of the last living greats, Dona Holleman. The yoga I share has purpose, intention, precision, intelligence and soul. It continues to be informed by all the inspirations in my life, past and current teachers, mentors, trailblazers and most importantly from the precious and essential time in my own daily Sadhana where ideas are incubated, experimented and processed. I teach long term practitioners, yoga teachers, yoga teacher teachers and those new to yoga with my partner Dory Walker.

Navigating the path of practice - testimonials

"I am rereading Patanjali's yoga sutras at the moment so it was useful to hear that part explained… this weekend joined many more dots, the main one putting knowledge behind the feelings I observe when my practice is more balanced and I give time over to the subtle, I don't think I've ever really understood the why about that until this weekend. Thanks so much for your time and guidance this weekend.”
Ashifa, Yoga Teacher

“I wanted to make sure you know how much I enjoyed and benefitted from the Navigating the Path of Practise course this weekend. I knew my own practise had gone stale and you so clearly and masterfully reminded me of what I've been forgetting to bring with me when I practise,(ie me!) and how incomplete they had become. `The past couple of years I have been going to just Iyengar classes where I have learnt a lot about some asanas and developed strength which has been very useful but perhaps unbalanced and not sustainable for me because it has gradually lead to less and less practice and a feeling I'd lost my way a little. You have brought it all back for me so effectively, I was remarkably unaware of what I had forgotten and had too many 'a-ha' moments to mention - even Sthira and Sukham can you believe! I've got my dusty copy of Desikachar's 'The Heart of Yoga' down from the bookshelf and am looking forward to intensifying and deepening my home practice further now, with thanks to the expert guidance and inspiration you gave me over the weekend. I also look forward to hearing about your future delivery and teaching plans and future projects, everything about the course just done, from content to delivery suited me perfectly and I would love to join in further.”

"To be guided along the path whilst connecting together in sangha finding our own way home is vital today. Thank you so much for being such knowledgeable and sincere guides offering what so many don’t”
Sona, Yoga Teacher

"'Navigating the path of practice' helped to fill in a few major gaps in my memory and understanding. Thank you for your serious, studious, thorough and in-depth approach. Everything you covered was just what I needed to hear - informative as well as thought-provoking. It will take me time to process my learning but what I will take away from this course is an altered approach, a different direction, a new beginning.”

”Both Rory and Dory are such exceptional teachers; their knowledge, wisdom and understanding (both of the anatomy of yoga and the philosophy) shines through”
Tabitha, Yoga Teacher

“It was interesting to de-mystify / democratise some of the core concepts and directly link them to praxis. I know why I practice yoga but it's not the most straightforward thing to explain. So, these kinds of linkings I find really interesting and helps it all make more sense”
Mark, Yoga Teacher
