The root of asana is in intention, method & approach

The heart and soul of practice is not what you do but the way that you do it.

Asana is a yoking of mindbody; the intelligence of the mind synthesised with the intelligence of the physical body. The space between is the energy, electrical or subtle body.

When all three aspects work in unison the difference is lightness, longevity, softness, less physical effort. Yoga is the elevated experience.

There are 5 essential codes and a 3 phase process that apply to ALL asana. At the heart of these codes are the feet. In every asana, the flow starts here.

However your body is aligned with gravity, whether in contact with the earth or sky, your feet are the vital architecture. They are instrumental in the re-wilding of the body.

Little awareness or uncertainty of the role of the feet is a key reason many students struggle with postures and experience unneeded physical effort. When the feet are on, its like the difference between adding power-steering to your car or turning on assistance on an electric bike.

In part one of this explorative practice you’ll experience new roots to support you lightening the body and opening new doors to your practice through a special sequence of foundational asana.

In part two, we’ll apply the same lens to inversions and bakasana’s (crows & cranes).

Rory's unique teaching style skilfully enables you to uncover a greater depth of awareness and understanding in your practice. Informed by multi-disciplines his approach is intelligent, passionate and insightful.

I am a direct student of one of the last living greats, Dona Holleman and have spent 12 years studying full time with her. The Yoga I share has purpose, intention, precision, intelligence and soul. It continues to be informed by all the inspirations in my life, past and current teachers, mentors, trailblazers and most importantly from the precious and essential time in my own daily Sadhana where ideas are incubated, experimented and processed.
