Rural Weekend Yoga Retreat with Lila & Dory

In the beautiful Chiltern Hills, Oxfordshire
Braziers Park Manor House
Friday 9th - Sunday 11th March, 2012

Braziers Park is a warm country manor house (formally home to 007!), set deep in beautiful countryside and the rolling Chiltern Hills of south Oxfordshire, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The location is perfect for a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating retreat... the old manor is a Grade II listed building and has so much charm and beauty... real log fires and set amongst 57 acres of land with beautiful gardens.  Braziers is a working eco community with sheep, chickens, a walled vegetable garden and an ancient orchard.

YOGA
Flowing traditional hatha yoga sessions will naturally open the heart and nurture you to a space of surrender and stillness.  Practices will be intuitive, strong, deep and supportive and cater for all levels from the novice to the seasoned practitioner.  A typical class will include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), hands-on adjustments, guided relaxation, chanting and a taste of philosophy.

The Retreat
The day begins with silent meditation and a little mantra chanting to open the heart and guide us to a space of inner silence, peace and happiness. Weather permitting, we will also have a morning silent walking meditation.  We welcome you whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for some time.  We aim to provide a quiet nurturing space for you to relax and participate in as much or as little of the programme as you feel you need.  We endeavour to take you a little deeper into the practice of yoga so as you are nourished on all levels... physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Braziers Park is one of our favourite locations... the mansion house is very quaint and quirky with plenty of space to nestle down with a book.  Theres the library, the study, dining room and an informal space by the log fire and grand piano... not forgetting the lovely outside spaces to relax (weather permitting!).  The unique character of the house makes it  an attractive and unusual place for film makers.  Episodes of "An Unusual Job for a Woman" and "Midsomer Murders" have been filmed here.

The Land at Braziers is farmland, mainly used for pasture with enclosing woodland, in sharp contrast to the large areas of open arable land around it.  The Braziers estate is managed so the wide diversity of habitats can be preserved and enhanced.  These include meadows containing some rare grassland species.

Gardens & Food - Braziers has a water garden, amenity gardens and its own organic kitchen garden and orchard.  The food is wholesome and delicious!  We will provide a nourishing vegetarian diet, please do let us know beforehand if you have any dietary requirements.  Teas are plentiful and available throughout the day.

Walks - There is a lovely woodland walk, which is a great opportunity to experience some of the wildlife beauties of the estate.  The woodland walk also incorporates Braziers Timewalk, which exemplifies the journey of the Universe through time from the Big Bang to the present day.

The Teachers
- Lila & Dory have been working together on retreats and Yoga Holidays both in the UK and abroad for several years now. They have both been teaching for over 10 years and continue to study and deepen their own practice.

"The retreat reached parts of the heart other retreats dont reach! For me, Lila and Dory were a beautiful combination who taught with balance and generosity. They also challenged my yoga practice astutely and the ashram setting with kirtan and fantastic food were all icing on the cake!" - Debbie, June 2010
